The Sept/Oct issue of SWIMMER magazine looks especially good this month:
Articles include pieces on swimming through menopause and common backstroke mistakes. The latter was written by Olympian and VA-native Whitney Hedgepeth. The menopause article makes for an interesting companion to the recent USMS feature article “Postpartum OCD and Swimming: My Story.”
While most of the content is available only in the print version of the magazine (sent free-of-charge to all current USMS memebers), there is some downloadable content: “The Whole IX Yards” about the impact of Title IX, and a Web Workout by Laurel Liberty, head coach of Libertyville Masters. There is also a Fin Testing video on YouTube (see below).
Our very own newsletter editor, Betsy Durrant of VMST, was featured in a Volunteer Profile. Betsy just stepped down from the USMS Board of Directors as the Colonies Zone representative; a former winner of the USMS Dorothy Donnelly Service Award and the prestigious Capt Ransom Arthur MD Award, Betsy is well deserving of the recognition!
