Long Distance Recognition for 2010

A number of long distance warriors from our LMSC have received some well-deserved recognition!

  • There were ten Long Distance All-Americans in 2010: Abby Nunn, Barbara Streater, Katie Whitworth, Shirley Loftus-Charley, Marcia Barry, Pam Dameron, Adam Barley, Chris Stevenson, John Shrum, and Calvin Barnes. These swimmers were top-ranked in their age group in at least one national long distance or open water championship event in 2010.
  • There were three swimmers who completed the USMS Long Distance Postal Series Challenge by participating in all five postal championship events this year: Adam Barley, Craig Charley, and Shirley Loftus-Charley.
  • Finally, the top honors: two Long Distance All-Stars hailed from our LMSC: Adam Barley and Shirley Loftus-Charley. This is the highest recognition possible: in bestowing it, USMS is recognizing the top long distance swimmer in each age group.

Congratulations to these excellent swimmers, and all others who participated in a long distance or open water championship event. (Please let me know if I missed someone.)
