A number of long distance warriors from our LMSC have received some well-deserved recognition!
There were ten Long Distance All-Americans in 2010: Abby Nunn, Barbara Streater, Katie Whitworth, Shirley Loftus-Charley, Marcia Barry, Pam Dameron, Adam Barley, Chris Stevenson, John Shrum, and Calvin Barnes. These swimmers were top-ranked in their age group in at least one national long distance or open water championship event in 2010.
There were three swimmers who completed the USMS Long Distance Postal Series Challenge by participating in all five postal championship events this year: Adam Barley, Craig Charley, and Shirley Loftus-Charley.
Finally, the top honors: two Long Distance All-Stars hailed from our LMSC: Adam Barley and Shirley Loftus-Charley. This is the highest recognition possible: in bestowing it, USMS is recognizing the top long distance swimmer in each age group.
Congratulations to these excellent swimmers, and all others who participated in a long distance or open water championship event. (Please let me know if I missed someone.)
