Chris Greene Lake Swim

Chris Greene Results

Unofficial results for the Chris Greene Lake cable swims have been uploaded to the website. Two races, the 1-mile and 2-mile cable swims, were held on July 9 in Charlottesville, VA. There were 173 athletes entered, 25 of them in both races; the Virginia LMSC was well represented, with 107 athletes from 13 clubs (plus Unattached).

As usual, there was a lot of fast swimming! 21-year-old Abby Nunn claimed the fastest swims of the day in BOTH races, clocking a blistering 40:42.60 in the 2-mile race and then following with a 20:31.91 time in the 1-mile swim. There were also three national records: two by Shirley Loftus-Charley in the 55-59 age group for both races, and one by Nancy Brown in the 1-mile swim. Nancy crushed the record by over 5 minutes, while Shirley proved that even someone at the “top” of the age-group, at 59 years old, can still set national standards.

Congratulations to all the finishers! And special thanks to race director Dave Holland and his crew of volunteers for once again putting on a very well-organized race.
