The final Top Ten listings for the 2011 Short-Course Meters (SCM) season have been published, and as usual the swimmers in our LMSC performed extremely well! The SCM season runs from Jan 1 through Dec 31. Some highlights of the SCM11 season:

• 139 individual swims were posted — including 19 #1 swims — were posted by 35 swimmers representing 5 different clubs (QMST, RCA, STON, SUNF, VMST), while 9 relays (8 from VMST, 1 from CNU) were ranked in the top ten, including 3 top-ranked relays. Shirley Loftus-Charlie led the way with an amazing performance: ranked in the Top 10 in ALL 18 events, including nine swims ranked at #2 in the country! This dominating performance overshadows some other very impressive performances: 10 ranked performances for Adam Barley, and 9 each for Betsy Durrant and Johnnie Detrick. Six of Johnnie’s swims were ranked #1 in the country, a total matched by Beth Schreiner, who achieved the top in every single event she swam.
• The Mythical National Championships page has been updated to include the SCM11 season. Our LMSC placed 10th (out of 52); VMST’s point total was the 9th highest club score in the country, and the 5th-highest point total for local clubs. An impressive showing!
• There were 90 new LMSC records set during the SCM11 season; 24 of the swims were also new Colonies Zone records and 2 of the swims set new USMS national records! Shirley was the pace-setter at 18 new LMSC records, while Adam (9), Johnnie (8), and Kelly Parker-Palace (7) also did their parts to rewrite the record book.
