Spring Nationals Results
Results from the 2013 USMS Spring National Championship are now available! Nationals were held May 9-12 at Indianapolis, and 23 of our members made the trip. They did great!

Patty Miller Receives Ransom Arthur Award
On Friday May 10 at USMS Spring Nationals, LMSC Chair Patty Miller was presented with the 2013 Ransom Arthur Award. This is a huge honor: the award is given annually to the USMS registered person who has done the most to further the objectives of Masters swimming.
Report from YMCA Masters Nationals
Every year a strong contingent of swimmers from the Northern Neck YMCA travels down to Florida for some fast swimming, and this year was no exception, as 13 LMSC members participated in YMCA Masters Nationals.
SCY Zones Results

Freestyle Pull: Paddle vs Propeller
The May-June 2013 issue of SWIMMER Magazine features an article that discusses the relative effectiveness of the sculling S-pull (“propeller”) and the deep-catch pull (“paddle”). USMS has recently uploaded a YouTube video to accompany the article.

Weak Side Breathing
Being able to breathe to either side can be useful in both open water and pool swimming, and developing the skill can also correct some stroke flaws. Two Feel For the Water blog entries recently addressed this issue.
