Fifty-six swimmers kicked off the fall season with the inaugural Pickin’ Up Steam meet at Randolph-Macon College in beautiful Ashland, VA. Results have been posted, as well as some photos.
Results are now available for the USMS 1-Mile Open Water Swim National Championship that was held in beautiful Lake Lure, NC on Aug 25. This event was part of the larger Lake Lure Olympiad Sport Festival, and about 180 swimmers took part in the championship race.
On July 14, 125 swimmers participated in the 36th Annual Chris Greene Lake open water cable swims, and the results have been uploaded to our website. Director Dave Holland has written a press release describing this year’s race.
Results from the 2012 USMS Summer Nationals are now available. A small contingent of 10 LMSC swimmers swam at the pool in Omaha that had just been used for the US Olympic Trials.
Results have been uploaded for the Commonwealth Games of Virginia, a long course meet held June 30 in Christiansburg, VA. Nice photos, too!

Five LMSC members traveled to Italy to compete in the FINA World Masters Championships. Around 10,000 athletes participated in pool or open water races, and the complete results are now available.
The Great Chesapeake Bay Swim (GCBS) was held on June 10, and 30 members of our LMSC braved the waters near Annapolis.

Results from the Virginia Senior Games, held on May 12 in Richmond, have been uploaded.
Marie Kelleher established new national records in the 50 and 100 free at the Virginia Senior Games on May 12, 2012. With these swims she becomes the first female USMS member to compete in the 100-104 age group.
Official results of the 2012 USMS Spring (SCY) National Championship are now available. There were 105 LMSC members entered in the meet and they did some fast swimming!
