It isn’t too early to start planning for the 2013 USMS Spring National Championship, which will be held in one of the most famous swimming facilities in the country, the Indiana University Natatorium.
In a postal swim, you compete in a pool of your choosing, and send your results in electronically or by mail. No muss, no fuss, no one to race against but the clock.
Recently USMS has awarded bids received for four national championships.
Although September is often a slow time for meets and OW races, there are still quite a few upcoming events that are within our LMSC (or within driving distance).
Most USMS members will not participate in a pool meet or open water race this year, but there are still a number of non-competitive Fitness Events that can help motivate you. The two most prominent are the Check Off Challenge and the Go The Distance events.
A handful of swimmers are representing our LMSC in some far-flung locations, at the 14th FINA World Masters Championships (Riccione, Italy) and the USMS Summer National Championship (Omaha, NE, at the Olympic Trials pool).
Summer means long course season! There are two June meets that are drive-able for most people in our LMSC: the ENC Long Course Splash on June 9 and the Subway Commonwealth Games of Virginia on June 30.
Entry deadlines for the two premiere open water swims in our LMSC — the Jack King 1-mile Ocean Swim and the Chris Greene Cable Swims — are approaching. Enter both today!
