What's New in the LMSC: June 2012

The June 2012 Newsletter, The Wet Gazette, is now available
- Want to keep LMSC fees low and save trees? Read your monthly newsletter online and opt out of receiving it by mail.
Marie Kelleher Breaks Barrier
- Marie Kelleher established new national records in the 50 and 100 free at the Virginia Senior Games on May 12, 2012. With these swims she becomes the first female USMS member to compete in the 100-104 age group.
- Complete results from the Senior Games meet, which were held in Richmond, have been uploaded.
Nearby Long Course Meets in June
- Summer means long course season! There are two June meets that are drive-able for most people in our LMSC: the ENC Long Course Splash on June 9 and the Subway Commonwealth Games of Virginia on June 30.
Jack King and Chris Greene are Coming!
- Entry deadlines for the two premiere open water swims in our LMSC -- the Jack King 1-mile Ocean Swim and the Chris Greene Cable Swims -- are approaching. Enter both today!
Jim McDonnell Lake Swim Results
- Preliminary results for the 25th Anniversary Jim McDonnell Lake swims have been posted. Photos are also available, courtesy of Katharyn Tupitza.
Award Nominations Due
- Nominations for a number of USMS awards are due July 1. Don't forget to nominate worthy candidates from our LMSC!
Freestyle Head Position
- Paul Newsome of Swim Smooth argues that no single head position in freestyle works optimally for every swimmer.
SCY Top 10 Submission Previews
- The Virginia LMSC will soon be submitting times for Top 10 consideration for meets that were sanctioned or recognized by our LMSC. Please inspect the Top 10 submissions previews for Individual and Relay events and let us know if there are any errors by June 15.
