Dear Chris,

Welcome to this month's edition of the LMSC e-mail news digest. It summarizes news items that have been posted to the LMSC website since the last digest.

Some items posted to the website are time-sensitive. Want to keep up with the news as it happens? Find out how!
What's New in the LMSC
The Colonies Zone SCY Championship meet is highly recommended, but the distance events are full. Thankfully, Terrapin Masters has stepped up to host The Backup Plan 1000/1650 Meet at a nearby pool.
Swim Around ManhattanWhen Abby Nunn gingerly clambered ashore with her own two feet yesterday evening in Key West, she became the first person to successfully make the crossing from Cuba to U.S. soil. She was in the water for 38 hours, six minutes, and preliminary data indicated that she logged approximately 104.912134123 miles.
Coach Jay Peluso of Peluso Open Water Masters (POWM) has written a nice article about the value and practice of acclimation in reducing the anxiety associated with OW swims.
The list of 2012 USMS Pool All-Americans and All-Stars has been published.
March Issue of Wet Gazette
The March 2013 edition of the LMSC Newsletter, The Wet Gazette, has been uploaded.

One of the most common flaws in backstroke is over-reach. Olympian Glenn Mills of GoSwim describes a drill that might help you to find the optimum hand entry position in backstroke.
The final Top 10 lists for the 2012 short-course meters season (SCM12) have just been published. Swimmers from our LMSC figured prominently in these lists, even as the LMSC record book was re-written.
RCA Diving Into Spring Snow
LMSC members participated recently in two nearby meets, and the results are now available from our website: RCA's Dive Into Spring (Mar 24) and ANCM's Albatross Open (Mar 16). We have some meet photos, too.
A recent dryland exercise of the week at Swimming World TV is an interesting breaststroke strengthening exercise.
The world swimming federation FINA ("Federation Internationale de Natation") has published the Top 10 world rankings for masters swimmers for the year 2012, and 13 members of our LMSC achieved a total of 54 world-ranked swims.
The LMSC Executive Committee met by teleconference on Feb 24 to discuss how to handle additional Open Water sanction fees; the meeting minutes have been posted.
