February 1, 2013
Dear Chris,

Welcome to this month's edition of the LMSC e-mail news digest. It summarizes news items that have been posted to the LMSC website since the last digest.

Some items posted to the website are time-sensitive. Want to keep up with the news as it happens? Find out how!
What's New in the LMSC
VMST is looking for sponsors for the 2013 LCM Colonies Zone Championship meet that will be held in Richmond on June 22-23. This will be a premiere event, held at the new Collegiate School Aquatics Center, which houses the pool used for the 2008 US Olympic Trials.

January Issue of Wet Gazette
The January 2013 edition of the LMSC Newsletter, The Wet Gazette, has been uploaded.

If you point your browser here you will always get the latest newsletter. Bookmark it! We also archive older issues of the print newsletter as electronic copies.
Many LMSC members are choosing to "opt out" of the The Wet Gazette newsletter mailing list, since all our newsletters are also available electronically in PDF format.

An under-appreciated aspect of racing is adopting the proper pace strategy. Swimming Science has posted a series of articles, Pacing 101 for Swimmers, that present the optimal pace strategy and the physiological reasoning behind it.
Results for the 3000/6000 Postal National Championships have been finalized. There were 19 swimmers from our LMSC who participated in at least one of the postal events, including four stalwarts who did both events.
A new year is often a time for re-dedication and goal setting. A nice post on the Feel for the Water blog explains how both short-term and long-term goals set at the proper difficulty level can help us get into "the zone."
Not that interested in competition or travel? Then perhaps postal events are for you: you can compete in your own pool with an audience of your choosing. One great event is the Check-Off Challenge, which lasts all year.
The Jan-Feb issue of Swimmer Magazine - now available online to USMS members - reviews the latest technology for underwater music. And check out the video review too!
