Jan 5, 2013
Dear Chris,

Happy New Year! This is the first 2013 edition of the LMSC e-mail news digest. It summarizes news items that have been posted to the LMSC website. I apologize for the delay since the last electronic newsletter; as you can see we've changed email providers. Hopefully you like the new format!

Some items posted to the website are time-sensitive. Want to keep up with the news as it happens? Find out how!
What's New in the LMSC
If you haven't done so yet, register for USMS for 2013! Your membership has never been so valuable.
The Virginia LMSC will soon be submitting times for Top 10 consideration for the SCM season; please inspect the Top 10 submissions previews for Individual and Relay events and let us know if there are any errors by January 15.
Long, hard Dec 31 or Jan 1 sets are a tradition in many age-group and college programs...and quite a few master's clubs have taken up the practice as well! Does your club have a tradition you would like to share with the rest of the LMSC?
Normal masters meets are usually social, fun, fast affairs. But one of the most exciting forms of swim meets are college dual meets, and 70 LMSC members decided to try to recreate that format in a masters setting. So the first annual (masters) Duel in the Pool was born!
December Issue of Wet Gazette
The December 2012 edition of the LMSC Newsletter, The Wet Gazette, has been uploaded.
If you point your browser here you will always get the latest newsletter. Bookmark it! We also archive older issues of the print newsletter as electronic copies.
The Top 10 lists have been posted for the LCM12 season, which ran from 9/1/11 to 8/31/12 so now is a good time to highlight some impressive long course swimming.
Feel For the Water, the SwimSmooth blog, posted a couple of intriguing articles on the concept of stroke contrasts.
Results are available for the SCM Relay and Sprint Festival that was held Nov 18 at George Mason University.
Butterfly is a very challenging stroke; Cokie Lepinski and Glenn Mills provide some tips and drills on how to master it.
