What's New in the LMSC
The May-June 2013 issue of SWIMMER Magazine features an article that discusses the relative effectiveness of the sculling S-pull ("propeller") and the deep-catch pull ("paddle"). USMS has recently uploaded a YouTube video to accompany the article.
Registration is now open for the 2013 Chris Greene Lake cable swims! This year there will be two races (1-mile and 2-mile), held on July 13. Hope to see you there!

Springtime means short-course championship season for 68 LMSC members! Cheer on your teammates in the Colonies Zone SCY Championship and the USMS Spring National Championship. The zones meet was held Apr 19-21, and the official results have just been finished and a meet summary will be posted on the LMSC website shortly. In the meantime you can look at the photos posted by Bud Swiger.
Weak side drillBeing able to breathe to either side can be useful in both open water and pool swimming, and developing the skill can also correct some stroke flaws. Two Feel For the Water blog entries recently addressed this issue.

Mark Gangloff posted an excellent review of over a dozen paddles of various types
