Check out the message from RobDeRocker below.
My name is Rob DeRocker and I’m a Masters Swimmer based in Tarrytown, NY with a home also in St. Croix, USVI. I’m writing to invite your group to consider a “Swimcation” in St. Croix in early January and join us for the annual Dolphins Sea Swim, a mile-long race through warm, gin-clear water that begins with a leap off the cruise ship pier on the west end of the island. The swim is scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 7. We now have the registration link: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/20th-annual-stcroix-dolphins-sea-swim-tickets-734900536287. Pass it around and let me know if I can help with additional information on discounted accommodations, etc.
Here’s a drone shot of the one in 2017; scroll back to the beginning for the cool and staggered start of the race — staggered because it takes several seconds for the sound of the conch shell serving as the starting gun to travel down the line: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqcn8sV1HbQ&t=26s. (I’m somewhere in that scrum and am pleased to report that I finished within the top three of my age group. That there were only three in my age group is beside the point…😊).
Thanks, and feel free to contact me with any questions. (I can make suggestions for discounted rates on accommodations, things to do on the island besides swimming and other logistics so feel free to reach out). And feel free to re-post this email, forward to your members, etc.

P.S. There’s a robust swimming community on the island that I’d be happy to introduce you to. In addition to races like the Sea Swim on Jan. 7 we do open water swims throughout the week that offers special moments like this one: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=q3eGm7AucQw&t=74s. It’s a beautiful time to be in St. Croix – the island’s Christmas Carnival culminates with a verrrry colorful parade the day before the swim. Daytime highs are in the low to mid 80’s, plummeting to the low to mid 70’s at night.
